BEHIND THE WHEEL DRIVER EVALUATIONS

The Delaware Safety Council also offers its personalized behind the wheel Driver Evaluation Program. Using their own auto, drivers are taken on a check ride with a certified Safety Council Defensive Driving instructor along. At the end of the ride, the driver is given a written and verbal evaluation of their driving habits.

Major corporations in Delaware use this program for their fleet drivers, because Motor Vehicle Crashes are the #1 cause of on-the-job fatalities in the United States.

COACHING THE VAN DRIVER II: Don't make the mistake of assuming your drivers can automatically handle a vehicle that may be larger and heavier, with more blind spots than a personal car. Van drivers must be trained in defensive driving techniques that relate specifically to vans. This course addresses topics that include pre-trip inspection, van characteristics, cushion of safety, safety belts, scanning, backing, blind spots, city, highway and rural driving, transporting cargo and transporting passengers.
